Desalination Project in the Jubail Region of Saudi Arabia
The Jubail 3A Project adopts seawater reverse osmosis technology and is equipped with a large number of plastic process equipment components on site, including pretreatment filter shells, reverse osmosis membrane module brackets, fresh water tank connecting pipe fittings, plastic pipeline joints supporting photovoltaic power stations, etc. Most of these components are customized specifications, with materials including HDPE, PP, etc., which need to be formed by welding and splicing, and must meet the requirements of corrosion resistance and tightness——they must not only resist the corrosion of high-salinity seawater and desalination process chemicals, but also prevent the leakage of process media. At the same time, after welding, the components must adapt to the overall operation accuracy of the equipment without affecting the normal operation of the desalination process. Some components also need to adapt to the low-carbon operation needs of the photovoltaic power station to ensure no additional energy consumption loss after welding.
To meet the personalized welding needs of the project's process equipment components, our company has provided customized plastic butt welding machines and welding solutions, including special molds and welding parameters adapted to different materials. For large plastic components such as pretreatment filter shells and fresh water tank connecting pipe fittings, high-power semi-automatic plastic butt welding machines with customized welding molds are adopted, which can realize precise positioning and uniform welding of large components, ensure that the welding joints are dense and flat, meet the sealing requirements of the components, and avoid component deformation during welding to ensure the dimensional accuracy of the equipment components. For small precision components such as reverse osmosis membrane module brackets and plastic pipeline joints supporting photovoltaic power stations, small portable plastic butt welding machines are adopted, which are light in weight and flexible in operation, and can complete welding operations on the equipment installation site without disassembling the components, reducing construction cumbersome. At the same time, the welding temperature and pressure are precisely controlled to avoid damage to precision components caused by welding operations, ensuring that the components adapt to the equipment operation accuracy after welding. In addition, in response to the welding needs of components of different materials such as HDPE and PP, the equipment can flexibly switch welding parameters and be equipped with special material welding heads to ensure the welding quality of components of different materials, adapt to the welding needs of multi-material and multi-specification components in the project, and fully conform to the progress of the project's process equipment installation and commissioning.
The customized plastic butt welding machines and welding solutions provided by our company have successfully completed the welding operation of all plastic process equipment components in the project, with a welding qualification rate of more than 99.8%. All types of components have no deformation or leakage after welding, and their corrosion resistance has fully adapted to the high-salt and multi-chemical process environment of the project through strict testing, and can operate stably for a long time, eliminating hidden dangers such as process medium leakage and equipment failure caused by component welding problems, and ensuring the continuous and stable operation of the seawater reverse osmosis process, providing important support for the project's daily production of 600,000 tons of high-quality fresh water. The small portable equipment has greatly improved on-site construction efficiency, reduced construction period and labor costs, and the high-power equipment is suitable for the batch welding needs of large components. The two types of machines work together to effectively ensure the progress of the project's process equipment installation. The stability and adaptability of the equipment have been unanimously recognized by PowerChina's general contractor, project owner ACWA Power and the supervision unit, demonstrating the technical strength and reliability of our company's plastic butt welding machines in large-scale international desalination projects, and laying a good foundation for subsequent similar Sino-Saudi energy and water cooperation projects.
